Autumn Fair at Halifax Academy

The Halifax Academy withe Grace Baptist Church will be holding an Autumn Fair at the Primary building of the Academy on Spring Hall Lane, Halifax HX1 4TW on Saturday 24 November, 12:00pm-3:00pm.

This will be an afternoon of fun with indoor games, craft table, face painting, tombola, food and drink and more to help to raise funds for the end of year trip for the Primary children.

Park Clean up in preparation for Family Fun Day

Pupils and teachers from the Halifax Academy joined Calderdale Council’s Safer Cleaner Greener Team, Ward Co-ordinator Tony King and staff from the North Halifax Partnership for a clean up in the grounds of West View Park.

Joining volunteers from the Friends of West View Park Group, the aim of the clean up was to prepare the park for the West View Park Family Fun Day which takes place on Saturday 23 July 2016.

6 bags of litter were collected in total after a brilliant team effort by everyone who got involved to brighten up their local community.

Inspirational people honoured at 2015 Our Communities Awards

Inspirational individuals and groups were honoured for their community work at the Our Communities Awards ceremony, proudly hosted by The Halifax Academy.

Co-ordinated by the North East Halifax neighbourhood team, the annual event celebrated those who, through their talent, hard work and community spirit, make a difference in the Park and Warley wards.

Lifetime Achievement Award winner - Denise KeenanThe winners were nominated for their varied contributions to the local area, from providing lunches for older people and helping others into work, to educating, campaigning and fundraising.

The Lifetime Achievement award was presented by Mayor of Calderdale Councillor Pat Allen to Denise Keenan, who has been involved in voluntary work in the Park and Warley Wards for over 30 years. Described as “the very backbone of St Augustine’s Community Centre”, Denise has provided support and advice to the vulnerable, building their confidence and encouraging participation in the wider community.

Contribution to Work and Training Award winner - Pavel Botos

The event brought together a diverse range of guests who, together with their friends and families, enjoyed a fantastic buffet and musical performances by students of The Halifax Academy.

The entertainment was provided by The Halifax Academy Brass Quartet and The Halifax Academy Choir, with solo performances from Alisha Zulfiqar, Eden Pendleton and Alya Begum.
