School’s are out for summer, which means you will all be looking for exciting activites for the children and young people of Calderdale, not to fear! Time Out has a timetable full of school holiday activities for a range of age groups.

Grants to deliver Healthy Holiday Activities for schoolchildren by June 29th

Calderdale community organisations, schools and childcare providers are invited to apply for a share of the £926,000 Healthy Holidays grant to offer fun and creative activity programmes over the summer holidays, in partnership with Calderdale Council.

Deadline for applications 29th June. 

Activities should take place during the period Mon 9th August to Fri 3rd September 2021

Summer Fun and Lunch for your bright Spark!

Holy Nativity Church are once again running Sparks during the summer holidays offering fun, games, art and crafts for up to thirty 5-11 year olds!

All this for just £2 per session including lunch!

Running Wednesdays 27 July, 3 Aug, 17 Aug and 24 Aug from 9am-1pm.

Do Something at Calderdale Children’s Centres

Calderdale’s children’s centres offer a wide variety of activities and services for families with children aged 0-5.

In the school holidays, there are FREE holiday activities suitable for families, with children up to age 11, across all Centres.

Rise of the Zombies 2015 – Halloween Walk

rise of the zombies 2015Go along to Shibden Park on Friday 30 October for an evening of spooky fun starting at 6pm.

There will be plenty of entertainment with rides and refreshments available to keep your family occupied and why not take a ride on the ghost train?

From 7.30pm you can watch the spooktacular fireworks display before venturing into the unknown for the Ghost Tour.

Don’t forget to wrap up warm, grab your torch and wear footwear suitable for muddy paths – unsuitable for buggies and prams.

Admission prices are: Adults: £4 – Under 16’s: £2 – Passport to leisure holders: £2

Due to the usage of fireworks it is asked that pets are left at home.

Grassland Mini-beasts and Big Butterfly Count

summer wildlifeMeet Chris Sutcliffe at the junction of Shroggs Road and Hebble Lane, Brackenbeds on Tuesday 28 July 2015 for a session exploring grasslands and capturing minibeasts.

Help take part in Big Butterfly Count.

No dogs

Ages 3+ (no unaccompanied children) £3 (£2 Passport to Leisure)

Session runs 2pm – 3.30pm.

Booking not required, just turn up on the day

Fun Swims at Halifax Pool

summer swimmingA wild and wacky time at Halifax Swimming Pool for children 14 years and under, with giant floats available.

No adults unless accompanying children 14 years of age and under.

Under 8s must be accompanied by an adult.

Monday – Friday 1.45-3pm,  Saturday and Sunday 1-2.15pm (throughout the holidays except Bank Holiday Monday)

  • £4.35 or £3.35 for passport leisure cardholders per session – adult
  • £3.00 or £2.75 for PTL cardholders per session – child
