RSPCA K9 Party in the Park 2022 on Sunday July 3rd

Local RSPCA returns to Halifax this July with K9 Party in the Park 2022

THE RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District branch are looking forward to hosting their annual Fun Dog Show – K9 Party in the Park – on Sunday 3rd July at Manor Heath Park, Halifax.

The event, which has now been running for over 22 years, helps to raise awareness and vital funds for the local RSPCA Animal Rehoming Centre on Wade Street, Halifax. The Centre cares for and rehomes up to 500 animals every year and is a self-funded, independent branch of the RSPCA.

K9 Party In The Park 2022 has fun for all the family and of course – your dog too! Featuring local trade stalls, games, rides, have-a-go agility, music, food, drink and the main event – a 23 class fun dog show, where dogs and their families can take part and hopefully win an official RSPCA rosette!

Fay GibbonsDigital Fundraiser said “Our K9 Party In The Park event is something we’re really proud of. The dog show itself has been running for an incredible 22 years and it’s only getting bigger and better! There really is something for everyone to enjoy on the day and we love seeing our supporters having fun and getting those tails wagging! So pop the date in your diary now and make sure you don’t miss the best fun dog show in town!”

The event is free to attend, but donations are kindly received and the first 600 party-goers will receive a free goodie bag on the day.

Registration for the dog show opens from 11.30am and is just £2.00 per class. ‘Eyes That Melt Your Heart’, ‘Puppy Love’ and ‘Posh Paws’ are just a few examples of some of the classes that will be running on the day.

The charity encourages those who will be entering the dog show to download and fill in an online entry form from their website and bring it along with them on the day to help keep queues to a minimum. You’ll also be able to pay with both cash and card at the dog registration stand this year.

For anyone who can’t attend but would still like to enter the dog show, the charity has recently introduced a digital 23rd dog show class – Absent Friends – which is suitable for anyone who’s dog has passed over the rainbow bridge, can’t attend due to behavioural issues/old age or other reasons. This class can be entered via the branch’s website and winners will be announced and contacted by July 6th.

Another added bonus to the event is the K9 Party raffle, to get your paws on a ticket please visit the charity’s website or pick up yours on the day.

The RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford & District Branch have an exciting challenge this March that encourages their supporters to get active, raise much needed funds and you can even receive a medal for your efforts!

The Best Paw Forward is a personal challenge that can be uniquely catered to your own abilities. You pick the distance you want to cover, the method you will use and go at your own pace – the only rule is you must complete it by 31st March.

Whether you walk, run, cycle or skate! Your challenge can help raise funds and awareness for the animals currently in the care of the RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield & Bradford Animal Centre.

All participants have a full month to finish the challenge and it can be part of your daily exercise or a personal goal. The event is open to all ages and abilities, and entrants are encouraged to raise sponsorship from family and friends to help the local RSPCA care for the animals spending lockdown in their centre.

Community Fundraiser, Michelle King says ‘The Best Paw Forward is a great way to keep fit and get outdoors, especially now the weather is turning brighter! The flexibility of the event should hopefully make your goal more achievable – from running 30 miles if you’re ready for a big challenge or just 10 miles of walking the dog. Anyone who raises £20 or more in sponsorship will receive a special medal and a goodie bag for those with a canine companion! We hope you’ll take on the challenge and help support our lockdown animals this March”.

After a difficult 12 months, the local RSPCA branch hopes this event will help raise vital funds for their rescue centre and the animals in their care.

All funds raised from the challenge will directly benefit the local RSPCA rehoming centre and you can find out more/sign up via their website here https://www.rspcahalifaxhuddersfieldbradford.org.uk/best-paw-forward.

RSPCA Virtual K9 Party In The Park 2020 July 5th

LOCAL RSPCA SET TO HOST ANNUAL DOG SHOW LIVE FROM THEIR ANIMAL CENTRE THIS JULY 5TH

The Covid 19 Crisis has created many obstacles to the Charity Sector this year and one of the RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield & Bradford Branch’s most popular events – the K9 Party in the Park – has had to convert from an outdoor event to a virtual fun dog show which will be live streamed to viewers homes!

The local RSPCA Branch were devastated to cancel their summer fundraising events due to the Covid-19 Crisis which hit the country back in March. One event in particular was their K9 Party In The Park, which this year would have seen the 20th anniversary of their hugely popular Fun Dog Show held in Manor Heath Park, Halifax.

The self-funded, local branch of the RSPCA relies heavily on this annual event to help raise vital funds for the animals in their care and had already put plans in place to celebrate their 20th year with their two-legged and four-legged supporters.

However, due to the government’s current safety ruling on banning large events, the charity came up with an exciting virtual twist, which will allow their supporters to enter a virtual fun dog show prior to hosting a live streamed show at their Animal Centre to join in with at home!

2019 – Revellers enjoy the charities dog show parade

The K9 Party Fun Dog Show boasts a staggering 20 classes to coincide with their 20th year, all of which can be entered by uploading your dogs photograph or video from June 26th – July 3rd via the Facebook event page or by email to the event organisers.

Then on Sunday 5th July, the Animal Centre will hold a live-streamed event from 12pm, which will not only announce the fun dog show winners, but will also host a dog adoption parade, doggy party games, raffle and more interactive games to join in with from home.

Fay Gibbons, Digital Fundraiser says “Our K9 Party In The Park is an event we look forward to holding every year and we had so much planned for this year’s 20th anniversary. The event isn’t just a dog show to us, it’s a chance to celebrate how much our canine companions mean to us and to meet up with our incredible supporters to have a day of fun and celebrations’’

Each year the K9 Party hosts up to 800 dogs, with more than 1400 people attending the event in Manor Heath Park in Halifax. The Branch hopes this year’s virtual event will help raise vital funds to support their animal welfare work through the current COVID19 crisis and also provide a bit of fun for their supporters who may be missing their local community events this year

The dog show classes will include old favourites such as ‘puppy love’, ‘waggest tail’ and ‘eyes that melt your heart’ with all winning entries announced during the charity’s live Facebook stream from 12pm on July 5th.

Entries cost just £2 and all the details of how to enter will be on the Branch’s website www.rspcahalifaxhuddersfieldbradford.org.uk and Facebook page.

“The day will be exactly what it says it is – a party! We hope all of our supporters will tune in to join the fun and hold their own K9 Party in their homes!’’

Local Bradford boy Zach 8 raises hundreds for RSPCA with lockdown drawings from home!

(Zach pictured above with his RSPCA rescue cat Bailey)

THE RSPCA Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford and District branch were touched to hear about an amazing fundraising idea from one of their young supporters who wants to help raise vital funds the animals in their care during the COVID19 Crisis.

Animal lover Zach – who is 8 years old and from Thackley, Bradford – decided he wanted to do something special during lockdown to help local animals in need. Zach is drawing his own creations and requests from anyone who donates to his fundraiser. They are posted on his Facebook Fundraising group along with sending some copies out digitally or posted to anyone who donates.

All of Zach’s drawings are being uploaded to his Facebook group and donors just comment on the artwork they would like. The young artist takes requests, but says he much prefers to do his own style of ‘doodle’ rather than a pet portrait. There are plenty of examples of Zach’s artwork to view on his page, including a penguin, an owl a monkey and even an alien spaceship!

Mum, Jemma Walker says “Zach has always been a great animal lover and our family adopted 2 kittens from the local RSPCA in Bradford almost 16 years ago. Sadly, we lost one of our cats last year but we still have Bailey (pictured above with Zach) and who Zach loves so much that it inspired him to help out the charity during lockdown. The fundraising total currently stands at £283 with more donations coming in and we’re even laminating and sanitising any artwork requests for delivery too!”

All funds raised from Zach’s artwork fundraiser will go directly to help the self-funded local RSPCA animal centre. Fay Gibbons, the Digital & Community fundraiser for the branch says “Zach really is a hero in our eyes – it’s been an incredibly difficult time for us here at the centre with all of our Charity Shops closed and fundraising events on hold for the foreseeable future, so all of the money raised will go a really long way in helping us to care for local animals in need. Well done Zach, you’re a superstar!”

To find out more about the fundraiser or to donate and get your hands on your own doodle by Zach, visit his Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/274053893770543.
