20mph areas to be introduced in North Halifax

Calderdale Council’s vision is to make our streets safe and pleasant for all children and adults however they travel or wherever they live and to help residents, 20mph speed limits will be introduced in residential areas across Calderdale by October 2017.

Areas in North Halifax will be introduced in September/October 2016 which include Ovenden, Illingworth, Wheatley, Bradshaw, Fountainhead and Mixenden (minor modification to 20mph at Mill Lane).

The maps below show details of where 20mph areas will be introduced:

Changes in speed limits are subject to statutory consultation as part of the Speed Limit Order (SLO) legal process.

You can register your support or formally comment on the 20mph proposals in your area by submitting this in writing by Thursday 31 March at 20mph@calderdale.gov.uk or by post to: 20mph, Road Safety, Northgate House, Northgate, Halifax, HX1 1UN

The North Halifax Neighbourhood awards are all about celebrating the local talent, hard work and community spirit that goes on within Illingworth, Mixenden and Ovenden.
