The North Halifax Neighbourhood awards are all about celebrating the local talent, hard work and community spirit that goes on within our neighbourhoods of North Halifax.

nhx neighbourhood awardsThe 2015 North Halifax Neighbourhood Awards are fast approaching and with only 21 days until the deadline for nominations why not spare a few moments of your time to nominate a local hero from your community and give them the recognition you feel they deserve.

With 10 different Awards categories to choose from, you don’t even have to stop at just one nomination!

  • Lifetime Achievement Award – Won in 2014 by Irene Mulhall
  • Contribution to Sport & Play – Won in 2014 by Mick Gavan – Crossleys
  • Contribution to Work & Training – Won in 2014 by Tutors and Students from the Construction Course – North Halifax Skills Centre
  • Contribution to Children & Young People – Won in 2014 by Martina Walsh
  • Contribution to the Older Generation – Won in 2014 by The Mixenden Community Growers
  • Outstanding Individual – Won in 2014 by Nathan Hunter
  • Community Involvement – Won in 2014 by Mixenden Parents Resource Centre
  • Young People of the Year – Won in 2014 by Kirsty Healey
  • Contribution to Culture – Won in 2014 by Peter Coenen – The Dance Mill
  • Contribution to a Safer Cleaner Greener Environment – Won in 2014 by Adrian Hill – Pennine Housing

There are a number of ways to nominate and the online process can be done in just 3 simple steps by clicking here. If you prefer the old fashioned way you can download or print our paper nomination form here and return your completed form to the Pennine Housing Office on Turner Avenue South, or drop it into Mixenden Library. You can also email us your nomination to team@halifaxnorthandeast.com

  • Nominations must be received by 31 March 2015
  • There is no limit to the number nominations you can make.
  • Nominations must be for an individual, group or organisation that lives or works in or for the benefit of the North Halifax community.
  • As hosts of the awards, staff from the North Halifax Partnership cannot be nominated for the work they do for these organisations.

Neighbourhood Awards 2014

The Skies Light Up with the North Halifax Stars

The talent and community spirit in Illingworth, Mixenden and Ovenden shone through at the North Halifax Neighbourhood Awards 2013 on Friday night.

St Catherine’s Assistant Head Andrew Smith opened the ceremony and local Councillors were among those invited to present the awards to the winners.

Dazzling young performers from St Catherine’s Catholic High School and Trinity Academy Community Choir provided the musical entertainment in between the awards.

The winners were:

  • Contribution to Our Environment – Bikeability Team
  • Contribution to Children & Young People – Helen Ridehalgh
  • Contribution to Culture – Annette Duncan
  • Contribution to Sport & Play – Crossley Belles
  • Community Involvement – Mixenden Activity Centre
  • Young People of the Year – St George’s, Ovenden, Scout Troup
  • Contribution to the Older Generation – June Bedford
  • Contribution to Work & Training – Vicky Finn
  • Outstanding Individual – James Glossop
  • Lifetime Achievement – Carol Wadley

It’s been another lovely evening with North Halifax friends and neighbours old and new  Thanks to everyone who took time to tell us about the people who really make a difference in their communities  And yet again the young performers from the three schools were truly awe-inspiring; I think without doubt some stars of the future there!

Star light, star bright – which stars will we see tonight?

The winners of the 10 neighbourhood awards will be announced tonight at the rescheduled Night of the North Halifax Stars at St Catherine’s Catholic High School.

The award categories are;

We can confirm that the The North Halifax Neighbourhood Awards taking place tonight at St Catherine’s Catholic High School has been CANCELLED due to the snow.

We’ll be in touch with all our guests today.

A rescheduled Awards Night will take place on Friday 12 April. Further details to follow.
