Our Communities – Lifetime Achievement award sponsored by North Halifax Partnership
WINNER: Doreen Stansfield
Doreen Stansfield is well known in her community as a very determined and hard working lady, always available to offer a guiding hand. Nothing is too much effort for her. She’s a silver surfer and a whiz on the computer!
For forty years she has been a key member of the Mount Tabor Luncheon Club, volunteering every week to serving the older people in the area. Doreen does everything from preparing the food and serving, to even helping to deliver lunches to housebound members of the community.
She was a guide leader for over 40 years and also ran a swimming club at Park Baths. Doreen was also a founder member of Mount Tabor Community Caring Association and continues to help with community activities.
Doreen has a son and a daughter and seven grandchildren. She is a wonderful lady; still driving, enjoying her garden and her family. Her late husband John was also a trustee of Mount Tabor Methodist Church and a great encouragement to her, she says.
Doreen maintains that she has always enjoyed what she does and has done it for the love of it and met some fabulous friends along the way.
