Morrisons Supermarket Community Giving Tree in aid of MOTHERSHARE

Shoppers visiting their local Morrisons supermarket in Illingworth will see a special Tree near the entry before entering the store.

This Community Giving tree has baubles with different amounts of donations that go towards the charity Mothershare, supporting mothers of babies and young children facing hardship.

During the lead up to Christmas and the festive season, you can pick up a bauble and pay for it at the checkout. 100% of your donation goes to Mothershare.

BBC Radio 2 Presenter Scott Mills gave a shout out and thanked local fundraiser Christine Gow who made over 250 cream teas for friends and family raising over £3,500 for children’s charity Mothershare.

This year Christine decided to raise money for Mothershare who provide vulnerable children and families in Calderdale with things they need such as essentials, cots, blankets, bottles, prams, clothes, underwear and nappies.

Understanding that the economy has hit people in their pockets, Christine decided to also hold a raffle. She explained, “Times are tough for people but I also wanted to raise as much money as possible for a charity who is in demand to help families now more than ever so I thought a raffle would provide an extra way to raise funds. I am extremely grateful to all the businesses who provided a prize and to all my friends and family for donating money.”

Illingworth Morrisons support Mothershare community food bank

When next you visit your local Morrisons in Illingworth, or if you just happen to drop by, spend a minute on their Local Community Giving Tree Supporting Food Poverty with some remarkably novel baubles.

Each bauble represents a different donation amount.

Pick up a bauble of your chosen donation amount, then scan the barcode at the checkouts with your shopping.

Your generous donation will be passed on to Mothershare, our local community group food bank.

Mothershare is Looking for New Volunteers as they Get Busier

#Challenge19 is a new scheme that Mothershare is running to encourage people to join them and build up a bigger volunteer base, as they get busier we need more help.

They aim to get 19 hours of voluntary hours each week.

Lasts weeks total thanks to Caravan Guard helping as well was 205!!

Why not join them?  It is a great team of committed individuals men and women, and there are a variety of roles to suit all skills.

Mothershare Baby and Toddler Sale Monday 21 January 2019

Mothershare‘s next baby and toddler sale will be held on Monday 21 January,  10:30am-3:30pm at Threeways Centre , Nursery Lane, Ovenden. There will be lots of baby bargains to be had including clothing,( fill a bag for £3.50 ) winter coats, toys, prams and other baby items.

The Mothershare team would also like to say a quick thank you to all who have donated items to them over the last few weeks. They have received some wonderful donations some of which have already been sent out to help some of the most vulnerable babies and children in our local area. This time of year can be difficult for lots of families but for some it’s almost impossible. With your support and generosity we are here to help those families stay together and keep their babies and young children warm, safe and cared for. Demand for the service is extremely high and they are helping more families than ever before and simply could not do it without your support.

Mothershare Fashion Show at Threeways

On Thursday 21 June, 6:00pm  at Lee Mount Social Club, Mothershare will be holding a fashion show with a sale of women’s and children’s clothing as well as running a raffle and tombola.

All funds raised will be going towards purchasing essential equipment and maintenance costs to keep the service running.

Tickets are £5 including supper and can be bought by contacting Mothershare either via the Facebook page or by emailing mothershare@outlook.com.

The regular baby and toddler sales are still on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 9:30am. The sale will be held at the Threeways Centre, Nursery Lane,  Ovenden. There will be lots of baby bargains on offer so pop in to see what’s on offer.
