Beer and Carols at Holy Nativity Church

This year Beer and Carols at The Holy Nativity Church, Mixenden is on Saturday 16 December, 7pm-9pm.

Beer and Carols is an event for the whole community and people of all ages as we make Christmas come alive!

As the name suggests, there will be an evening of singing and laughter and drinks to buy. We’ve got a licensed bar selling affordable drinks with a barrel of beer, some bottles of wine, soft drinks for the kids and with a selection of song sheets we’re good to go! There will also be nibbles!!

There will be sections of traditional carol singing and a section for the children. Then to finish the evening there will be Rock Band Metanoia with special guests finishing the evening with a bang! This is a festive opportunity not to be missed!

Everyone is welcome!

People of all ages are welcome but unfortunately we can’t have unaccompanied children due to licensing laws.

Easter Bonnet Parade a BIG Hit in Mixenden!

Tuesday 22 March saw Ash Green Community Primary School’s first Easter Bonnet Parade through Mixenden take place and with over 350 pupils, parents, family and friends getting involved it turned out to be a real big hit.

Mayor Lisa Lambert, pupils and parentsThe parade was entertaining to say the least as pupils performed an Easter Train Dance, arranged and choreographed by Jill Barker and Lucy Hughes from Mixenden Activity Centre while Reverend Robb Sutherland and drummers from Ingineer provided music to help keep a good beat.

Parade on Mixenden RoadThe parade began at Ash Green Upper Site and continued down Mixenden Road before coming to an end at Holy Nativity Church, Mixenden where the Mayor of Calderdale, Councillor Lisa Lambert, Head Teacher, Mungo Sheppard and Parent Governor, Marcus Reeves all judged the biggest and best Easter bonnets competition.

Walk with us!

We want to make walking in North Halifax really BIG this year.

And it’s not all about organised walks either (although we are blessed with some lovely local countryside to explore).

Whether it’s a walk to the shops, to school or to the pub, we want to know where you want to go.

So we’re kicking off with a series of consultation sessions across Illingworth, Mixenden and Ovenden to find out.

The idea is simple.

We’ll have some really big maps and some coloured pens and we’d like you to draw for us your usual walking routes and where you would like to be able to walk to but currently can’t.

3 sessions will be held on:

  • Tuesday 11 August at Holy Nativity Church, Mixenden 1pm – 3pm
  • Wednesday 12 August, Illingworth Methodist Church, 1pm – 3pm
  • Wednesday 19 August at Threeways Centre, Ovenden, 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Or drop in and see us at Mixenden Library or Beechwood Road Library between Tuesday 11 August – Tuesday 25 August  2015.
