New Dads Can Have Postnatal Depression Too

Did you know…

  • The risk of depression doubles in the first year of being a dad
  • First time dads are particularly vulnerable
  • 1 in 10 dads-to-be will become depressed during their partner’s pregnancy
  • The peak time of postnatal depression in men is 3-6 months after birth
  • Dads under 25 are more likely to experience this

Insight Healthcare talking therapies is a free and confidential service, commissioned by the NHS, and is available to anyone aged 18+ and registered with a Calderdale GP.

They can accept referrals in the following ways:

Once they have received the referral, a member of the administration team will contact you to arrange an appointment. Please note that it is usual policy to withhold telephone numbers when you are called.

Insight Healthcare Calderdale Mindfulness Workshop

Insight Healthcare are holding a Mindfulness Workshop on Tuesday 16 January, 6pm – 7:30pm. 

You must be over 18 and registered with a GP in Calderdale to attend this mindfulness workshop.

The event is free to attend but places must be booked using this Eventbrite website. You will need to produce your ticket at the event.

The venue is to be confirmed but it will be in central Halifax, Calderdale, West Yorkshire.

The workshop will be presentation based and will look in detail at mindfulness skills and techniques and how you can implement them into your every day life.

This workshop will be great for you if your are:

  • Interested in improving your self-care and wellbeing
  • You are experiencing stress and anxiety
  • Interested in Mindfulness or developing mindfulness skills

Calderdale Talking Therapies is part of Insight Healthcare and provide free talking therapy services on behalf of the NHS. They are able to help those registered with a GP in Calderdale that are aged 18 and over.

The service provides help to people experiencing common difficulties such as: low mood, depression, anxiety, stress, panic, anger, phobias, trauma, bereavement, loss, relationship difficulties and family problems.

They aim to complete an assessment with clients within 3 days and some types of therapy are available within 2 weeks.

During Mental Health Awareness Week 2017 (8th-12th May), Tesco Superstore on Haugh Shaw Road, Halifax, will be hosting an event over three days on the Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. The event will enable customers and colleagues to access information and resources, in order to encourage better mental health in our community.

Local mental health organisations involved include Healthy Minds, Staying Well,  Insight Healthcare, Improving Access to Psychological Therapies, and Andy’s Man Club.

Customers are invited to come and have an informal chat with the representatives of the various organisations to find out what support is available locally and to discover what they can do to improve mental health for themselves, for family members or friends.

Through the presence of Mental Health practitioners and support groups who operate within our community, we hope to promote the support that can be accessed locally.   At the same time, we hope to contribute towards the movement to remove stigma around mental health issues.”

In celebration of World Mental Health Day 2016, Insight Healthcare presents ‘Wellbeing for Calderdale’ with interactive stalls, taster sessions, live performances and guest speakers including Ursula Holden-Gill from ITV’s Emmerdale, Nick Rawsthorne of Halifax RLFC and Luke Ambler Halifax RLFC and founder of #andysmanclub and #itsoktotalk campaign.

Mind Your Head… Free Mental Health Awareness Event for 16 to 24 year olds

Go along to a free event where you will hear loads of tips & tricks for looking after your mental health.

Wednesday 12 October – 5.30pm to 8pm

Hear from Healthy Minds about mental health awareness and learn the early warning signs and triggers including how social media and smartphones can impact our mental health.

Insight Healthcare Calderdale will also show you different management techniques on how to cope with mental health issues and there will also be a marketplace of local organisations working around mental health.
