C3 Healthy Communities at Beechwood Big Picnic Saturday 1 July

C3 Healthy Communities is coming to the Staying Well tent at the Beechwood Big Picnic on Saturday 1 July looking at diet and physical activity.  Anyone can talk to Lisa about what issues they have re: healthier eating or where to go for indoor/outdoor physical activity within the area.

They will be having fun with a human fruit machine where people fill in a questionnaire and then have an opportunity to press a buzzer and if they match 3 fruit or veg, then that is what they will win.  There will also be a glitter tattooist – she is working for free but will have a donations tin for Illingworth Rugby club and Ovenden Park to help them both out.

C3’s name comes from their belief that preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and their risk factors before people fall sick or need care requires Collaboration between all of society to focus on the 3 risk factors that impact NCDs:

  1. Unhealthy eating and drinking
  2. Lack of physical activity
  3. Tobacco use

This includes addressing both the individual and environmental barriers to leading a healthier life.
