Limited reopening of Brighouse and Halifax Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) from Monday 11 May 2020

Halifax and Brighouse Hourehold Waste Recycling Centres will have limited open hours from Monday 11th May. Please note other HWRCs in Calderdale remain closed.

The two sites will reopen on a restricted basis, with strict safety measures in place to protect both staff and visitors. Social distancing and traffic management will be in place. Only visit if it is essential and expect long delays; you may be turned away if it is busy. Check restricted opening hours before you travel.

Proof of postal address is required on entry (ie a utility bill or driver’s licence, resident permit for Brighouse if you have one), only one person per car, unless special circumstances.

Sites can only accept bagged general household waste, garden waste and bulky items of household waste such as old furniture, no electrical bulky items. Please do not bring any other types of waste or recycling as you will be asked to take it home. This is to ensure each visit is completed as quickly as possible.

Staff cannot assist with unloading; only bring items you can safely carry alone. Please see Frequently Asked Questions  or our ‘Quick Check‘ guide for further information.
