Volunteer
If you would like to help out come and volunteer – it’s a lot of fun and a great way to contribute to the community – please email volunteer@handmadeparade.co.uk for more information.  There a lots of things to help with either on the day or in advance, if you’re creative why not help the artists with the big makes or help with face painting on parade day.  If you’re more of an organiser you can help with meet and greet at workshops, stewarding on parade day.  If you shy away from the limelight there are all sorts of things that you can help with – sewing, basic carpentry, pushing the giant fantastical creations on the day, helping out at the park and many many more.

Handmade Parade – Hebden Bridge Sunday 24 June 2018

The Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade is an annual celebration of funkiness, the art of the handmade and is just a lot of fun! The magic happens in two weeks of workshops, open to anyone who wants to make costumes, parade art or help create giant puppets. With a crack team of local professional carnival artists, volunteers, guest artists and some killer street bands, we create just the occasion for up to 1000 people to dance down the streets of Hebden Bridge, watched by thousands.

The parade will set off at 11:30am – note this is half an hour earlier than last year!- from the Handmade Parade workshops on Victoria Road and head down Valley Road, through St George’s Square and Bridge Gate to finish in Calder Holmes Park, where there will be mini festival of live music, dance, street theatre and picnic in the park with fabulous food stalls from local vendors until 4.30 pm.

Please note that the roads in the centre of Hebden Bridge are due to close between 12:00pm and 1:00pm.

Parking is very limited in our narrow valley so if possible, please arrive by bus or train (we’ve made it easy: the parade ends right next to the train station!) If you must drive, please give yourself plenty of time (lots of great cafes and shops in Hebden Bridge!)

(Hint: best views of parade, especially if you have little ones, is on Valley Rd and Holme St–it’s very crowded near St George’s Square and on Bridge Gate!)
