We’re joining the 12 Days of Christmas Shopping Window Trail!

Happy Advent month everyone as the countdown to Christmas has officially begun!

This year, Halifax North and East blog (and the Calderdale Lower Valley blog) will be doing the 12 days of Christmas Shopping Window trail and we hope you join us! It will be fun and actually… we haven’t found them all, so we need your help!

For the third year in a row, several shop windows in the town centre have had a little festive makeover, thanks to the very talented Jenny Tribillon.

This Shopping Window Trail features 12 Christmas full window paintings of colourful wintery themes and Christmas celebrations.

The blog will embark in this festive treasure hunt, starting December 1st with one picture going live every other day leading to December 24th.

Join us and see if you can spot them all!

Halifax Goes Purple!

Purple flag webPurple Flag week will take place in Halifax Town Centre between 27 September and 3 October 2014.

Purple Flag recognises excellence in the management of the evening and night time economy and is a good indicator of where to go for a good night out.

Halifax remains the only place in West Yorkshire to hold this status. During Purple Flag week, events are taking place in the Town Centre of Halifax and we would like people to promote the week by wearing purple for the day on Tuesday 30 September.

A Bloomin Welcome to Halifax!

Dean Field Junior Wardens helped Halifax in Bloom plant barrier plants at the Halifax Town Hall last week, just in time for the Tour de France!

Calderdale is expecting an unprecedented number of people visiting the region for the weekend 5-6 July, and visitors to Halifax will be met by fantastic floral displays located at the entrance to Halifax Town and surrounding areas.

Yorkshire in Bloom judges are coming to judge Halifax on Monday 21 July, and will be looking at the displays created by the Junior Wardens with a little bit of help from the Council’s Safer Cleaner Greener Team, Ovenden and Mixenden Initiative and the Community Wardens.

Halifax in Bloom is made up by volunteers from across Calderdale. Their aims are to help boost to the local economy through increased tourism, and to increase civic pride through local people taking on the planning of long-term improvement in their local environment through planting beautiful sustainable displays.

If you would like get involved with Halifax In Bloom, please contact Pete Oddy on 07712867626.
