Sponsor Halifax Magpies trip to IMART in Cork, Ireland

On behalf of Halifax RUFC, we are currently fundraising and supporting our mixed ability team the Halifax Magpies get to Ireland to represent the district in IMART 2022 which is set to take place 5-11 June 2022 in Cork Ireland. Details of the tournament can be found under the following link About – International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament (imartworldcup.org)

Not only is your support vital this will also be the experience of a lifetime for all the players involved who face challenges every day most people just don’t understand. Halifax RUFC is proud to have a mixed ability team and we use rugby as a way of making a difference to these people and their families everyday lives. The majority have physical and mental learning difficulties and pictured on the IMART website is our very own Sam Beevers who is a stalwart of this team and typifies the enjoyment they all have in feeling part of this club.

Our target is ambitious and all monies raised will be used towards travel, accommodation, equipment and insurance for around 30 players of mixed ability and able-bodied facilitators, carers and support staff.

If you know anyone that can help by donating money please use our just giving page Fundraiser by Jason Brian : Help Halifax Magpies get to IMART 2022 (gofundme.com), alternatively you can contact Jason Brian (Director of Rugby)  jasonbrian@btinternet.com

Can you help improve facilities for a mixed ability rugby team?

Halifax RUFC are hugely passionate about making rugby accessible for all – and are proud that they currently run three senior men’s teams, a thriving ladies squad and the beating heart of the club; a mixed ability team – the Halifax Magpies.

The side is aimed at providing rugby for players with learning difficulties and physical disabilities. It gives those people who love the sport but struggle to get involved an amazing chance to play rugby, keep fit, make friends and have fun.

Unfortunately, the facilities at Ovenden Park are in desperate need of renovation to help accommodate the needs of the Magpies. Crucially the showers need a major overhaul, including new, disabled access into the area, rails, non-slip flooring, additional units and improvements to the pipes and boiler.

Halifax RUFC have set a target of raising £10,000 to complete all the required work and believe the showers would be of massive benefit to the community.

As a result Halifax RUFC have set up a Crowdfunding/Just Giving page to help achieve the target and require the support of the local community and wider rugby family to help achieve their goal.

Even if it is just £1, anything you can afford would be greatly appreciated – Donate today!
