The Friends of Shibden Park and Estate invite you to the AGM on Monday 8 April, 1:30pm at Shibden Hall to find out what being in a Friends Group at Shibden involves.

 

Find out what they have been up to and hear about the funding and their plans.

All friends are welcome to attend, so please share with your fellow friends.

Shibden Winter Craft Fair

The Shibden Winter Craft Fair will be held this year on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 November 2018 10am – 4pm.

A selection of local crafts and produce on sale in time for Christmas shopping. The perfect place for present buying or to treat yourself!

Admission: Reduced admission to Shibden Hall.

The car park on Lister’s Road is located up the hill from Shibden with a short walk down to the entrance. Further parking is available off Godley Lane by the lake and Mereside Cafe. From here there is an up-hill walk to Shibden Hall. Both car parks require parking tickets to be purchased. Disabled parking is available for Blue Badge holders next to the site, accessed from Lister’s Road and follow the narrow road down towards the Hall.

Shibden Hall – Closures Due to Filming of ‘Gentleman Jack’

In 2018 Shibden Hall will be involved in the filming of a new costume drama for the BBC and HBO.

“Gentleman Jack” will be an eight part series for television written by Sally Wainwright and starring Suranne Jones as Anne Lister of Shibden Hall.

In order to facilitate this Shibden Hall will be closed to the public from:

  • Monday 14 May until Sunday 22 July (10 weeks)
  • Monday 3 September until Sunday 21 October (7 weeks)

It will open for the summer holiday period and all of August.

Shibden Hall May Day Craft Fair

Visit the Shibden Hall May Day Craft Fair on Monday 7 May, an all-day event with admission just as the usual price (Adult £5.00, Concession £4.00 (Children 5 – 16 years / Senior Citizens /Passport to Leisure) Family ticket (2 adults and 2 children): £14.00)

Demonstrations of traditional crafts including pole lathing, blacksmithing and rag-rugging as well as local Celtic traditions such as building a green man.

Take part in May Day dancing and listen to traditional folk tales.

Friends of Shibden Park Grand Easter Egg Hunt

Friday 30 March to Sunday 8 April.

Forget the snow….. coming soon ….Easter Egg Hunt ….. this will run through the school holidays until the eggs run out.

See the boating house for the hunt start ….

Tickets ONLY £1 all entrants win an egg.
Tickets available only from the boathouse.
All proceeds go towards more play equipment on the park.

Anne Lister Day at Shibden Hall

Anne Lister’s birthday falls on 3 April.

There will be a celebration of Anne’s life (1791-1840) on Tuesday 3 April, 10am to 5pm at Shibden Hall.

Hear from biographer Helena Whitbread and writer Sally Wainwright about her forthcoming TV series ‘Gentleman Jack.’

 

The day will include a guided tour and behind the scenes access to the Hall and collections relating to Anne, and a guided walk around the estate.

£35 per person. Includes lunch and birthday cake.

Santa Comes to Shibden Park

Dare we say that after Halloween and Bonfire Night, Christmas is not far away. On Saturday 9 December from 9am until 4pm Santa is spending some time in Shibden Park. There will also be a brass band to welcome him and of course the Mereside cafe will be open for all your refreshment needs.
