New Defibrillator for Shelf launch November 15th

The Friends of Shelf Hall Park (FOSHP)together with the local community, businesses and the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund have raised over £2000.00 to purchase a defibrillator for emergency use in Shelf.

The Village Hall is in the process of closing but the landlady of the Bottomley’s Arms kindly stepped in to provide a space for it to be installed outside the pub. This installation is now completed, registered with the ambulance service and ready to save lives.

Carl Pope, treasurer of the FOSHP said ” We are committed to bringing sports for all ages back into Shelf Park and having the defibrillator nearby is key to our success. Our thanks go out to the local community and businesses plus the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund for making this possible. Huge thanks to HBD plumbing and electrical for installing the defibrillator free of charge”.

An official launch day is arranged for Monday 15th November at 7.00pm at the Bottomley’s Arms including a demonstration of how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) provided by Yorkshire Ambulance service.

There will also be an opportunity for those attending to purchase raffle tickets to raise funds for other projects in Shelf such as the tennis court, playground and sports pavilion.

David Wager secretary of the FOSHP said “Great achievement. Shows what can be achieved by the community pulling together.”
