Weekly activities at the OSCA Foundation Community Sports Hub

The OSCA foundation at Forest Cottage in Ovenden has a choice of fitness and exercise activities to suit all ages and abilities.

Other activities taking place at the OSCA include

  • Car boot sales every two weeks on a Sunday morning
  • Live music events, usually every other weekend
  • Rugby fixtures for the Halifax Panthers Women Sunday afternoon
  • Andy’s Man Club – Mondays except Bank Holidays from 6:30pm. Just turn up!
Old tyme and modern sequence dancing – Tues, Thurs 2.00 – 4pm, in the Enderby Hall.

Tae Kwon Do – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – 6.30 – 8mp – All ages

Over 50s Walking Football – Tuesday – 10.30 – 1pm

Keep fit, Indoor – Thursday 9.45 – 10.45 and 11.00am – 12.00pm. All ages

Rug Ratz, Nippers Rugby Training – Saturday & Sunday – 9am – 10.30am

Ladies Rugby League, Halifax Panthers Women – Sunday Afternoon

Various junior outdoor soccer teams  for both boys and girls, from 5 years to 16 years.

You need to book into each activity separately with the instructor. You can do so by visiting the centre at the activity time and introducing yourself.

The facilities at the OSCA can be rented for training sessions, functions and birthday parties. With ample parking space, spacious rooms and even plenty of outdoor grounds, they have a lot to offer for many event needs.

With new, refurbished halls at professional standards, including a fully licensed pub and regular events, this is a one-stop community hub.

Star Boxing club looking for ladies boxing and fitness coaches

Halifax Star Boxing Club are looking for Ladies interested in coaching Boxing Fitness. We will develop, train and help you attain England Boxing Coaching badges for free and in return you will assist/lead coaching training sessions to children and adults. We have a specific need for delivery to our Ladies Only Classes.

You may be currently partaking in Boxing training and wish to develop as a coach? You may be already be involved in an alternative sports and fitness delivery? Perhaps you are in need of a gym to develop and build your own brand? Come speak to us, we are open to discussion and ideas.

We are Community Sports Club run by volunteers and we believe money should not be the deciding factor in participation and that the club’s activities should be accessible and affordable to all, as well as supporting those who can grow the most by participation and inclusion in the community.

Mixy Marchers Walking Group and beginners Netball

Mixy Marchers is a walking group held by a group of ladies which was set up in Mixenden by Mandy O’Shea. If you enjoy walking, the group is always welcome to new members. The group meets for walks every Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm outside Holy Nativity Church, Mixenden, HX2 8RX.

The walks tend to last up to 1 hour and 30 minutes with suitable clothing and footwear advised.

If walking isn’t really for you then perhaps you might like the idea of beginners netball. Held Thursday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm at Ash Green Primary School, Lower Site. Just £2 per session to cover the cost of a trainer (Any money left over will be reinvested into the Mixy Marchers fund for further resources and the development of other physical activities in the area).

Halifax Boxing, Sports & Fitness Gym invite you to go along to the 2019 open day for an event filled with fun for all the family.

Fitness sessions in Lee Mount for young people under 25

Disability Support Calderdale are running  circuit training sessions for young people with disabilities and long term health conditionsfor just £1 per session with refreshments available.

Every Thursday from 19 January – 4pm to 6pm
At Lee Mount Baptist Church, Melbourne Street, Halifax, HX3 5DF.

Each session will last for 45 minutes with a warm up and warm down routine and each participant will have a fitness assessment before starting the sessions.
