On September 18 2014, the Council launched a £99,000 grant scheme to support innovative approaches to building financial resilience in Calderdale by the voluntary and community sector.
Organisations are being asked to bring forward ideas that meet the challenges highlighted in a piece of original research into financial resilience in Calderdale, recently undertaken by the Northern Housing Consortium.
The research highlighted the issues faced by households either in, or at risk of falling into financial difficulty.
The grant scheme is looking to award innovative new ideas that help address one of four key issues:
- debt prevention and recovery
- financial capability & skills
- digital exclusion and
- food & fuel poverty
Voluntary and community sector organisations in Calderdale are being encouraged to apply for the funding before the deadline of 12noon on Friday 14 November 2014.
