Register to vote in the Local Government Elections 5 May 2022

Local Government Elections are coming up on Thursday 5 May 2022. If you are already registered to vote at your current address you don’t need to register again. Anyone who needs to register can do so quickly and easily online by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Registering takes less time than it takes to make a cup of tea!

Everyone who is registered by 14 April will be sent a poll card to inform them of their polling station location, hours of the poll or whether they have a postal vote. Most polling stations have not moved but please check your poll card to make sure. New applications for postal votes, or cancellation of current postal voting arrangements, must be received by Electoral Services by 5pm on 19 April.

Don’t forget to vote in the May 6th Elections

You are reminded that on Thursday 6th of May 2021 there are Calderdale-wide elections to vote for Local Government Councillors.

This year for the first time, Calderdale will be voting for a Combined Authority Mayor.

In some areas there will also be Parish/Town Council by-elections.

Households will have been sent packs with the profiles of the candidates for the Mayoral election.

Whether voting in person at a polling station or by post, don’t forget to vote.

It is your right.

You are reminded that on Thursday 6th of May 2021 there are Calderdale-wide elections to vote for Local Government Councillors.

This year for the first time, Calderdale will be voting for a Combined Authority Mayor.

In some areas there will also be Parish/Town Council by-elections.

Due to the Coronavirus situation, this year citizens are encouraged to apply for a postal vote. This saves a trip to the polling station and offers a safe and secure method of voting, which is particularly important due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

You can still vote in person in a polling station, by post, or by appointing someone you trust to vote on your behalf, known as a proxy vote.

Everyone should be registered to vote. If you aren’t you can’t have your say when the time comes and did you know that not being registered could also affect your credit rating.

An election could be called at any time so why not register to vote… It’s never too early!

Have you returned your Electoral Registration form?

Please don’t forget that your electoral form needs returning even if there are no changes and you can return by post or follow the simple instructions on your form to do it online or by phone.

Electoral Registration staff are now visiting households who haven’t returned electoral forms to ask them to complete on their doorstep.
