WomenCentre, Calderdale – Freedom Programme

women centreThe Freedom programme is a weekly support group and there will be 2 groups starting from Monday 11 April 2016 where each week you will look at different types of abuse. The Freedom programme is for women who have been affected by or would like to learn more about domestic abuse.

The daytime group starts on Monday 11 April 2016 from 10am to 12noon and will run every Monday until Monday 27 June 2016.

The evening group starts on Tuesday 12 April from 6pm to 8pm and will run every Tuesday until Tuesday 28 June 2016.

Please Note – There will be no group on Monday 30 or Tuesday 31 May 2016 due to the May half term school holiday.

Self & agency referrals are accepted however the referred woman must have given consent for the referral to be made. For more detailed information about the programme and referral process click here or to make a referral, please complete the programme referral form.

Domestic Violence and Abuse Awareness – Training programme

FREE full day training sessions on Domestic Abuse delivered by the Domestic Violence and Abuse Support Team on the following dates:

Wednesday 18 November & Wednesday 20 January 2016 – 9.30am to 4pm
What’s Risk Got To Do With It? (Good practice when working with domestic abuse)

Wednesday 10 February 2016 – 9.30am to 4pm
Appropriate & Effective Models of Work with Men Who Have Been Abusive

Wednesday 16th March 2016 – 9.30am to 4pm
Working with Young People who experience Domestic Abuse in their relationships

The courses are held at the WomenCentre Calderdale, 23 Silver Street, Halifax, HX1 1JN and training is FREE of charge however, if a confirmed place is cancelled then cancellation terms will apply.

Domestic Abuse Awareness Session – Health Connections Course

Health connections logoThis half day session will improve participants understanding of domestic abuse and provide information about specialist domestic abuse services available in the Calderdale area.

Participants will:

  • Understand the breadth and scope of domestic violence
  • Recognise the impact of domestic violence on victims
  • Identify sources of help and support in Calderdale

The session will be delivered by Amanda Shaw & Lisa Hutchinson, WomenCentre on Thursday 23 April 2015  from 9.30am to 12.30pm at Voluntary Action Calderdale, Hall St, Halifax, HX1 5AY
