Children’s Meditation Course at The Outback Community Garden on Sunday 14th August

A one-day course in Anapana Meditation for 8 – 15 year olds is coming up at The Outback Community Garden during the summer holidays.

Meditation can help improve focus and concentration, help with making good decisions, manage stress and emotions and provide a tool for life to help live more happily and peacefully. As well as learning to meditate, there will be fun and creative nature-based activities and games in the lovely environment of the Outback garden and education space.

The Outback Community Kitchen and Garden is situated behind the Jubilee Children’s Centre at Lightowler Rd, Halifax HX1 5NB.

The course will run from 9.30am – 4pm.  

Booking is essential and to register a child for the course, you can apply on the UK course schedule under ‘Children and Teenagers’ courses: Vipassana Meditation Course (dhamma.org)

There is no fee for the sessions but donations are welcome.

It’s here! The 61st Shelf Hall Gala this Saturday 2nd July from 1pm at Shelf Hall Park with an afternoon of fun and games for all the family!

There will be food stalls, games stalls, amusement rides, music and great atmosphere!

The Shelf 2022 Gala will be held on Saturday 2nd July from 1pm at Shelf Hall Park.

There will be fun for all the family, stalls, games, amusement rides, food and music.

Flavourfest Community Market 25-26th June at the Inspire Centre car park

This weekend come to the #FLAVOURFEST Market at the Inspire Centre Car Park and explore street food and stalls – Afghan, South Asian, Italian, French, Iranian, Nigerian, organic produce, healthy snacks, cakes and sweets – all Calderdale-based providers.

There will be Cooking demonstrations, Entertainment, Children’s Activities, Henna and face painting.

Free entry and Free parking available.

Elim Church Jubilee Street Party on Sunday 5th June

Halifax Elim Church invite you to their Platinum Jubilee Street Party at Illingworth Children’s Centre on Sunday the 5th of June.

The event is free, starting at 2pm. There will be Live Entertainment, Cream tea, dancing, lots of fun and games, including face painting and child friendly crafts.

Halifax Elim Church run 2 children’s clubs in the area once a month in Whitehill school and the Challengers every Sunday in the Illingworth Children’s centre.

The Jubilee celebration is funded by their charity shop on Illingworth road Charity 1st.

Warley Queen’s Jubilee Event Saturday June 4th

Warley Community Association invite you to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee picnic at The Vandals Rugby Club

on Saturday 4th June between 2.00 and 5.00pm

Everyone is welcome to come along on the day and have some fun.

There will be lots of games to suit all ages such as a Coconut Shy, Tin Can Alley, Bat the rat, Hook a Duck, a Bran Tub and Face Painting  for the little ones and lots more.

A Fancy Dress competition will be held for the best dressed adult and child wearing a Crown and they will be invited to sit on a throne and have their photograph taken.

There will be various stalls, one from The Allotments, a Cake Stall and two Tombola tables, one for children and one for everyone, there will be a Fire Engine, live music, ice cream van and The Roady Coffee van selling lots of different coffees, teas and cakes and lots more, so please come along.

“Bring a picnic” have some fun and a great afternoon out!!!
