The next Calderdale Women’s Interfaith Group event is on Friday 5 April, 10:30am
at Heath United Reformed Church, Free School Lane, Halifax HX3 0DW. This is on the corner of Free School Lane and Manor Drive. There is on-street parking in the area. It is also easy to reach by bus from the town centre – 574 and 577 stop a few yards away from the front door. Perveen Hussain and Claire de Ramaix are looking forward to giving us a presentation on the topic “Looking after our health and wellbeing in the light of the spiritual teachings, a shared perspective from the Muslim and the Baha’i Faith”. Do come along, bring a friend and take the opportunity to hear about this subject.
Many thanks to Rev Madeleine Russell for a really well attended and received talk about the Taize community in France a few weeks ago. We are sure that the next meeting will be just as interesting!
The May get-together is likely to be a walk in the locality on a Saturday – no date or route yet selected. Possibly we will do some litter-picking as we walk along.
The next meeting of the Women’s Interfaith Group is on Friday 5 October, 10:30am – 12:00pm – ‘Music and Spirituality’ at Heath United Reformed Church on Free School Lane/Manor Drive corner HX3 0DW – just down the road from Savile Park.
Perveen Hussain is going to lead a talk and discussion about this topic. Music is a very important part of many people’s lives and it will be interesting to hear about and discuss the part it plays – or doesn’t play – in the practices of different faiths. It will be good to visit Heath Church and see how that older place of worship has been adapted for modern times.
Finally just to say that this group is very friendly coming from different faith backgrounds but no-one will try to challenge or change your beliefs or make you feel uncomfortable. Everyone respects each other and each other’s faith (or none!).
They learn about many faiths, see where there are similarities and differences – above all respecting the diversity found in Calderdale. Try them out!
