WomenCentre, Calderdale – Freedom Programme

women centreThe Freedom programme is a weekly support group and there will be 2 groups starting from Monday 11 April 2016 where each week you will look at different types of abuse. The Freedom programme is for women who have been affected by or would like to learn more about domestic abuse.

The daytime group starts on Monday 11 April 2016 from 10am to 12noon and will run every Monday until Monday 27 June 2016.

The evening group starts on Tuesday 12 April from 6pm to 8pm and will run every Tuesday until Tuesday 28 June 2016.

Please Note – There will be no group on Monday 30 or Tuesday 31 May 2016 due to the May half term school holiday.

Self & agency referrals are accepted however the referred woman must have given consent for the referral to be made. For more detailed information about the programme and referral process click here or to make a referral, please complete the programme referral form.

Healthy Minds Mum Time

Facilitated by a Healthy Minds worker alongside a volunteer, Mum Time meetings provide a space for mums to take some well earned time for themselves.

Sessions are well structured, confidential and relaxed and encourage women to share experiences and support each other in a non-judgemental way.

“You don’t just talk about feeding your baby – we have proper discussions about things” (Jen).

Mum Time takes place at the Women’s Centre on Silver Street, HX1 1JN, on:

  • Wednesday 1 October – 1.45pm to 2.45pm
  • Wednesday 15 October – 1.45pm to 2.45pm
  • Wednesday 5 November – 1.45pm to 2.45pm
  • Wednesday 19 November –  1.45pm to 2.45pm

Women Centre AGM Event 2014

The WomenCentre Annual General Meeting on Monday 13 October 2014 will be an evening of information and entertainment focusing on WomenCentre work  in Calderdale and Kirklees.

6pm at WomenCentre, 23 Silver Street, Halifax

Agenda:

  • Overview of WomenCentre work over the last year
  • WomenCentre Partnership working
  • An update on National Work
  • Launch of the WomenCentre 30 year anniversary celebrations for 2015

Plus focusing on two new and innovative projects:

  • Breaking the Cycle – Big Lottery Reaching Communities funded project
  • Womenslink— Calderdale CCG funded project

A light buffet will be served and there will be singing from ‘The Songbirds’
The main event will be followed by the WomenCentre Business AGM at 8-00pm

Calderdale WomenCentre Building Consultation

Calderdale WomenCentre is looking to make changes to its building, depending on successful future funding bids.

They will be holding 2 consultations events for stakeholders, to have the opportunity to see the plans, which will be led by a team of architects from Howden Russell.

If you would like to come along, the initial ideas for future work will be available for viewing on:

  • Monday 7 July, 12pm – 2pm
  • Tuesday 8 July, 4pm – 6pm

Services at Queen’s Road Neighbourhood Centre

  • Citizens Advice Bureau every Monday 10am to 1pm, free drop in, no need to book, Urdu and Czech translators are available.
  • Park Ward Councillors Surgery – every Wednesday afternoon 12pm to 4pm, come and speak to your local ward Councillors about the ward you live in.
  • Women’s Centre Drop In – every Tuesday, 10am to 12pm. Two advisers from Calderdale WomenCentre run a free and anonymous drop in service
  • Halifax Central Work Club with Job Centre Plus – every Friday, 10am to 12pm. Free job search advice and guidance. Bilingual speakers available in Urdu, Punjabi, Czech and Slovak.
