We’ve had reports of extensive rupture of Old Lane near Boothtown.

The road has extensively ruptured and flooded, making it unsuitable for driving.

Avoid driving through there if you can.

Wild West Exhibition and talks at Bankfield Museum

Venue: Bankfield Museum, Akroyd Park, Boothtown Rd, Halifax, HX3 6HG

Native American and Western artefacts will be on display from Calderdale Museums, Leeds City Museums and various private collections, alongside souvenirs from the world famous ‘Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show’, which visited Halifax on the 8th October 1903.

January 2017 sees the 100th anniversary of Buffalo Bill’s death. Born William F. Cody, the legendary ‘Buffalo Bill’ almost single-handedly created the image of the ‘Wild West’, which endures to this day- with cowboys and Indians, covered wagons and stagecoaches.

First World War Memorabilia Day – FREE Admission

Halifax Great War Heritage Society will be hosting a First World War Memorabilia Day at Bankfield Museum for 2016.

Saturday 12 November – 10am to 3pm
At Bankfield Museum, Akroyd Park, Boothtown Rd, HX3 6HG

Meet members of the Society who can help assess any photographs, diaries, postcards, trench art, uniform items, medals, souvenirs or other artifacts relating to your ancestor’s military or civilian service during the First World War.

They will be able to research further details for you or show you where you can find out more, and will record them as part of Calderdale’s First World War Effort.

FREE Event – Great War Family History Day at Bankfield Museum

The Halifax Great War Heritage Society will be hosting a Family History Day and will be in the For King and Country gallery at Bankfield Museum to meet visitors who would like to find out about their ancestors’ involvement in the Great War.
