Young people make sweet treats at the Big Bake Off

BakingA mixture of young people have been getting involved with the Great Bake Off as part of the on going Summer MixMatch 2016 with Project_Twelve:31.

The group have so far enjoyed making chocolate cornflake cakes and other sweet treats on Tuesday evenings under the guidance of PC Kim McCloskey, PC Karen Robinson of West Yorkshire Police and Karen Scanlon from Ovenden Initiative.

Fancy yourself as the next Mary Berry? Then come along and get involved at the next big bake off on Tuesday 16 August at Forest Cottage, Cousin Lane, HX2 8AD

There’s much more going on with Summer Mixmatch for you to get involved in… Some will make you think, some will make you sweat and others might just challenge you to try something new.

Spruce up your CV with Real Life Futures for young people

Real Life FuturesReal Life Futures Courses take place on Thursday’s throughout the summer holiday as part of Summer MixMatch 2016 with Project_Twelve:31 and the best part is that it’s FREE.

The first week saw young men take part in a session around the danger’s of fire which included hard hitting footage of the tragic event that took place at Bradford City Fc’s, Valley Parade stadium resulting in the loss of 56 lives on 11th May 1985.

Over the duration of the course attendees will gain qualifications such as First Aid, Fire Marshalling, Manual Handling, Risk Assessing and more.

It’s not too late to get involved and spruce up your CV for potential future employers!

Come along on Thursday 4 August from 4pm at Forest Cottage Community Centre, Cousin Lane, Ovenden, HX2 9AD.

Macmillan Coffee Morning at the Beehive & Crosskeys

Everyone welcome to go along for a Macmillan Coffee Morning including a bring and buy sale and an afternoon/evening of fun to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

On Saturday 26 September 2015 – From 11am
At the Beehive & Crosskeys, King Cross Rd, Halifax HX1 2SH

Doors open at 11am for Coffee and Cake and it is asked that everyone takes something home baked and something for the bring and buy sale that you no longer use or need to sell in order to raise some money for a brilliant charity – Whatever cake doesn’t get eaten will be sold!

FREE cocktails and some jelly shots later on to help you on your way to participating in some karaoke as well as some nice little freebies to give away.

Anyone wanting to donate items to sell may do so at any time this week by dropping them off or just take along with you on the day.

Husbands and partners are encouraged to join later on to watch the Rugby World Cup games so please go along and support a great cause.

Paul Hollywood – British Baking Live at the Victoria Theatre

paul hollywoodTuesday 2 December 2014 sees TV chef Paul Hollywood demonstrate recipes, from Cornish pasties to Bakewell tarts and talk about some of his favourite regional baking

He will reveal some of the secrets of being a TV chef and take the audience on a culinary tour of the UK, showcasing some of the country’s best-loved regional specialities so go along and find out which Yorkshire specialities will be picked.

Paul will demonstrate up to four of his favourite recipes during the show and four lucky audience members, chosen at random, will be invited to take part in one baking challenge live on stage as well as members of the audience having an opportunity to put their own questions to Paul in an open Q&A.
