Ash Green Junior Wardens make their recycling pledges

This week Ash Green Junior Wardens visited Gillmoss Recycling Discovery Centre in Liverpool to take part in a range of interactive activities and learn all about the recycling process.

From a viewing platform the children could observe the process in action at a real working recycling plant and follow the journey of waste through a whole host of hands-on activities.

As well as talking about recycling at home and at school the children made individual recycling pledges such as, “I pledge to recycle my comics and magazines” and “I pledge to encourage other people in my family to recycle”.

In a fun recycling quiz the children from Ash Green impressed the teachers with their knowledge proving what great ambassadors they are for recycling in Calderdale and the Junior Wardens scheme.

Gillmoss Recycling Discovery Centre in Fazakerley, Liverpool is a new state of the art Discover and Play Educational Centre. The programme, led by a trained teacher, is aimed at school children of all ages from primary to further education.
