Staying Warm with Staying Well Event

A delicious lunch was served between 12 and 1pm, made by Sarah and Maz from the Illingworth Moor Methodist Church. There were two tasty options: homemade vegetable casserole or corn beef hash, washed down with tea, coffee, and to top it all off some scrumptious homemade cakes!

Staying Well opened the doors at 11.30am and there were people waiting patiently to come in! There were 15 organisations who kindly agreed to come a spend a few hours promoting what they do – too many to mention but they included: Healthy Minds, The Ageing Well Team, The L.A Group, Men United, Smart Move, Better Living Team, Newground Together and the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.

After lunch it was onto the speakers, with 9 brave souls who agreed to talk about their services. To make this session interesting speakers were given only 3 minutes each! First up was Craig, one of our Staying Well Workers for North Halifax. Next up was Lucy from Vitaminds, telling us all about how they can support people around mental health. Everyone did really well and from the comments received our guests now have a clearer understanding about the support services available in Calderdale.

The event was very well attended from both the local community and partners and Staying Well would like to thank everyone for their support.
