WEA Course – Psychology and Life

The WEA are offering a 7 week course starting Tuesday 22 January, 10:30am-12:30pm at Halifax Central Library HX1 1QG on ‘Psychology and Life’.

There will also be a FREE taster session on Tuesday 15 January, 10:30am-12:pm.

The course offers an opportunity to think about what makes people behave the way they do as shaped by genetics, upbringing, culture and life experiences.

The cost for the course is £49 but if you are entitled to certain benefits the course may be FREE.

Kid’s Crafts Resume at Queensbury Community Programme

Kids Crafts Classes resume at Queensbury Community Project, The Bank, 36 High Street BD13 2PA on Monday 14 January, 4:30pm-6:00pm for 5 weeks – now only £2.50 per class!

With creative crafts, sewing, cards, knitting, modelling and much more for boys and girls aged 7 and over.

Walk with the Clarke Family and Their Dogs Starting From St. Augustine’s

You’re invited to join the Clarke family and their dogs on walks in 2019!

The Clarke family would like you to join them on their dog walks in the beautiful countryside close to Halifax.

All of the walks will be 2 hours or more with pick up at St. Augustine’s Centre. They will be a great way to keep fit and healthy, and to also help clear your mind.

Start the new year on the right foot! You will need warm clothes, good shoes, and lots of enthusiasm and energy!

Dates for January and February 2019:

  • Saturday 12 January – pick up from St. Augustine’s Centre at 12:00pm. Drop off at around 3pm
  • Sunday 20 January – pick up from St. Augustine’s Centre at 10:30am for a local 3 hour walk
  • Sunday 3 February – pick up at 10:30am for a 3 hour walk.

The maximum number of people will be 10. If you would like to go you must be ready and prompt for pick up.

Exercise for Men with Halifax Rugby League Foundation

These sessions with the Halifax RLFC Foundation are designed for men who haven’t exercised for a while and are looking to get fit and have some fun.

Train with current and past players to build your strength, stamina and fitness with other like-minded men.

Mondays, 6:30pm-7:30pm for 10 weeks starting on Monday 21 January 2019 at 3GI Soccer, Shaw Lodge Mill, Halifax HX3 9ET.

Over 50’s Luncheon Club – Dates up to March 2019

The Halifax and District Irish Society organise the “Over 50’s Luncheon Club” which takes place at The Pellon Social Club, Moor End Road, Halifax. Meetings are usually held every 2 weeks but keep an eye out for the entertainment listings to confirm this.

The Luncheon Club usually operates from 12 noon to about 3pm. (Open from 11.15am).

Live entertainment, dancing, free door entry ticket raffle, main raffle, bingo, domino card and full buffet meal; all this for only £5.00 per member.

All members are issued with a membership card. There is no annual subscription. Members are advised to have this card with them when attending any Luncheon Club meeting. Any lost cards will be replaced without charge.

Dated and numbered tickets are provided and entered into separate free door entry ticket raffle for a £10.00 prize.

Members are asked to advise the committee if bringing a guest. Guests will also pay a charge of £5.00 but they are not entered into the free door entry ticket raffle.

Discovering Relaxation at Northowram and Shelf Community Children’s Hub

Starting on Tuesday 8 January 2019, 7:00pm-8:15pm, Northowram and Shelf Children’s Centre Hub, Lydgate, Northowram HX3 7EJ will be hosting a 6 week course learning floor based breath awareness techniques to aid relaxation.

As the course is not delivered by the Children’s Centre, to check the costs and book a place call Helen  on 07925 102461.

For those who would prefer afternoon sessions, Helen is also holding a class starting Monday 7 January, 1:45pm-3:00pm learning chair based breath awareness techniques to aid relaxation.

Jewellery Making at Creations Community Children’s Centre

Starting on Tuesday 15 January 2019, 12:30pm-2:30pm, Creations Community Children’s Centre, Albert Road, Pellon HX2 0QD will be holding Jewellery Making Workshops.

Design and create your own jewellery using different materials over the 4 weeks of the workshops ending on Tuesday 5 February.

A great hobby or even a small business that could be a source of income.
