Time Out FREE Half Term Activities at Orange Box Young People’s Centre

Orange Box young people’s centre will be hosting free Half Term activities over the school holiday for ages 13 – 19 years run by Time Out Calderdale. Activities will run from Monday 18 February to Friday 22 February as shown below.

There will also be access to Youth Works drop-in which is a safe space for young people aged 13-25 to come along, ‘chill out’, listen to music, access the internet or have a brew.
The drop-in is always staffed by youth workers who can offer advice, information, support or guidance on the whole range of issues that affect young people.
The drop in is open weekdays from 3:30pm-5:45pm.

No need to book, just turn up – you will need to register when you arrive (with parent or carer if under 16) if you haven’t already, or you can fill out a registration form here and bring it with you when you come.

Social isolation and loneliness are one of the biggest growing issues in the UK.

In the Upper Calder Valley, quality volunteers and innovative social enterprises are tackling this epidemic.

Calderdale Upper Valley and Palliative Adult Social Care team are showcasing the fantastic work done by our voluntary community at Mytholmroyd Community Centre on Thursday 28 February, 10:00am-1:00pm.

During half term, Calderdale Industrial Museum, Square Road, HX1 1QG will be open on Thursday 21 February, 10:30am-3:00pm.

Angels Corner Dementia Friendly Cafe at St. Columba’s Church

The next Angels Corner Cafe (Dementia Friendly) will be on Sunday 17 February, 12:00pm – 2:30pm at St. Columba’s Church Hall, Highroad Well Lane, HX2 OQF. It will then open on the third Sunday of every month.

Refreshments will be available also: £2.00.

This Cafe caters for vulnerable, isolated people and people with dementia with their carers, friends and/or families and anybody else wishing to attend. People are invited to attend by simply ‘popping in’ to relax, enjoy, have fun with different activities, listen to Music, ‘sing a long’ or chat and make new friends in a welcoming and friendly environment.

Activities include some or all of the following:
Arts, Crafts, Games, Quizzes, Word searches, Bingo. Through the various activities and informal and social environment in which new skills may be learnt, will also be catered for. The Cafe also provides a safe, comfortable and supportive environment.

Roller Skating at Half Term at Halifax YMCA

Attention All Skaters! YMCA Halifax, Crossley Street, Halifax are holding Skating Schools on both Wednesday 20 February, 2:00pm-3:30pm and Friday 22 February, 2:00pm-3:30pm. For just £5 (including skate hire), qualified coaches will show you how to stop, turn and skate backwards.
