We are pleased to share our April ‘OUR NEWS’ newsletter, created by Neighbourhood Watch Network (the umbrella organisation for Neighbourhood Watches across England and Wales) for all Neighbourhood Watch supporters – from households to volunteers and partners.

This month we launch our PROTECT YOUR CAR campaign. We also look at fleeceware scams, predatory marriage and much more. Next year, in 2022, we will be celebrating Neighbourhood Watch’s 40th Anniversary and we want to hear from you how YOU would like to see this celebrated nationally. Please take a minute to give us your views here.

SEYH Awards
Nominations are now open to highlight the achievements of 2020, closing at 5pm, Thursday 22nd April. The awards evening will take place Thursday 27th May at 6pm online.

SFSC Parenting Programme
Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities (SFSC) is a free inclusive course to help parents and carers raise happy confident children, from ages 3-18 years. SFSC runs for 3 hours a week for 13 weeks.

Walking Football
The Mark Duffy Football School are starting a Walking Football group for over 50s, from Monday 19th April at West Vale Sports Ground. Experience mental and physical health benefits by having fun, keeping active and making new friends!
National News

New National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates
The National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates will increase on 1‌‌ ‌April. In addition to the new rates, the age from which workers become eligible for the National Living Wage will be lowered. From 1‌‌ ‌April all workers aged 23 and over must be paid the National Living Wage or above.

Easing of National Lockdown – NCVO support – Closing date: 18th March
As national lockdown starts to ease and voluntary organisations embark on opening up premises and resuming services or activities in line with the government’s road map, NCVO would like to hear from you about the issues/concerns you have and what they can do to offer further support.

Citizens Advice Calderdale are in the middle of updating their website to make it easier to use, and need help with their research. If you’re chosen for the research you’ll receive a £40 online voucher.

Children and young people in lower-income families will be supported to stay healthy and happy over the Easter school holidays, thanks to a new round of grants under the Never Hungry Again fund.
