Calderdale Forum 50 Plus (the information and support group for older people in Calderdale) is working with Active Calderdale and The Space @ Field Lane Community Centre to encourage local people from the Rastrick area and especially those living in the vicinity of the Field Lane Estate to start walking.
Our 3-2-1 Walks programme will help
We have mapped 3 walking routes (3km, 2km and 1km) all starting from The Space Community Centre and will be publishing free easy-to-follow maps together with the walk details and delivering them to community locations (shops, churches, community centres & groups, GP surgeries, schools and Rastrick Library), for local people to pick up. A web page will also be published on local community websites for people to access the maps online.
Accessible for all
The routes will be accessible to all to allow wheelchair and mobility scooter users to be able to go out with carers or family and enjoy some fresh air and companionship – having mental health benefits for both the person and their carer.
A launch event at The Space – help us promote the project
3-2-1 Walks will be launched with two afternoon events on Friday 9th June at The Space @ Field Lane and we invite you to get involved in this opportunity to help get people more active.
At the launch event we will be handing out the route maps and leading walks around all three routes. People can attend at either 2pm or 3.30pm – and refreshments will be available after each session and we will be running a fun competition for everyone to enter on the day.
