Northowram Scarecrow Event 2022. And the winners are…

The Northowram Scarecrow Event took place at its usual time, in the first bank holiday of May, back after two years of covid imposed lockdowns and the residents stepped up to impress!

The scarecrows featured traditional outfits, a few biblical characters, styles old and new with crucially, some beloved fairytale and cartoon characters, super heroes and even… political personas!

The winner of the event was, fittingly considering the upcoming Queen’s Jubilee, Princess Peppa Pig!

Congratulations to the makers and to all participants for making this event a huge success!

Councillor Roger Taylor commentedSo great to see so many people coming along after what has been a long three years.

Well done to the committee, supporters, volunteers, scarecrow designers and builders, backroom people organising extra bins and their subsequent emptying throughout the event. Thank you to those providing hospitality, refreshments and the entertainers. The brass band on Monday is always my favourite.

Looking forward to it all again in 2023!
