After several successful community litter picks and with lockdown easing further, Pimp My Pellon has begun branching out to include social events because we believe that a thriving community flows from the relationships and connections between the people that make up that community. The Eden Project’s Big Lunch in early June gave the perfect opportunity to bring the community together to celebrate and say thanks to our neighbours following the trials and tribulations of the last 18 months.
Neighbours were invited to bring along some food for themselves or to share, a picnic blanket or chair to the green on Pellon New Road, a space we eventually hope to develop into a community focal point and gathering place. Ten neighbours gathered to eat together, chat, play giant garden games and paint pebbles before hiding them around the green. We had some great discussions about all sorts of things, but in particular about creating an annual fun event for the Pellon community that could highlight and celebrate some of its history. So watch this space!
In the end, the time flew by and we all really enjoyed the afternoon. We look forward to doing it all again next year!
