PM Boris Johnson addressed the nation on Monday January 4th at 8pm, announcing the necessity of new stricter measures to control the spread of coronavirus and in particular the new variant.
The decision was made due to a spike in infection rates. The numbers are the highest witnessed since March 2020. There is considerable strain on the National Health Service and it is hoped the new measures will help delay the spread.
Consequently, those who are able to work from home must do so. All schools will remain closed.
The new measures are set to remain in place until at least the middle of February.
More information will be provided as we receive it.
