Whether it’s walking the hills, shooting for goal or cleaning the community, the ladies of Mixenden are really leading the way.
Both the Mini (children) and Mixy Marchers are walking their cares away in a socially distanced way. These women walk and talk their way through all weathers, clearing heads, putting the world to right and getting their big hearts beating a little faster, as they explore the footpaths right on their doorstep. This weekend the Marchers and friends walked 6 miles and raised an amazing £681 for brain tumour research.
As winter returns the women in Mixenden will be hoping restrictions lift so they can get back to netball, set up with a little help from Active Calderdale and Ash Green School earlier in the year. Netball is open to all. Having never played, or not played since school is almost a given in this game. All you need are some comfy shoes and a sense of fun.
Community Clean Up
If hills and netball hoops weren’t enough, Mixenden joined September’s COVID friendly Great British Clean Up and with help from local families and friends bagged an amazing 50 sacks of litter. The Addy kindly kept all volunteers fuelled with free bacon butties and a much deserved cuppa. A second clean-up is now in the pipeline.
A great effort by the ladies of Mixenden, keeping their community happy, healthy and litter free.
