In honour of Black History Month, the students of Dean Field Primary from Nursery to Year 6 have been learning about one important person of the Black community as part of the History curriculum.
As part of this the students got involved with a range of activities including a Diversity dance from Nursery to a boxing focus on Muhammad Ali and tennis skills based on Venus Williams.
Some activities linked more specifically to cross-curricular sessions such as poetry and writing. Each person they learned about was added to the classroom historical timeline.
Students and teachers really enjoyed their projects and will embed this each year into the History curriculum.
This was so interesting. The School is doing a great job. I wish I could have seen some the activities, and some of the children’s work.
