Beechwood Big Picnic – for children and families

The Beechwood Big Picnic is back on Saturday 7 September, 12 noon –  4pm and we’ve got tons of FREE activities to keep families and children entertained.

Sure Start North Halifax Partnership have their own tent jam packed with activities including face painting, children’s entertainers, glitter tattoos, hair spray and NHP Sure Start Forest School taking the little ones on a Bear Hunt adventure.

Bring your bucket and spade and play on our very own Beechwood Beach, or settle down on a deckchair to watch the seaside favourite Punch and Judy with an ice cream or candy floss from one of our many food stalls. If you fancy something healthier, visit the Tesco free fruit stall.

If your little ones like getting creative visit our arts and craft section and make a masterpiece or take part in some outdoor games and family races including egg and spoon!

We have a variety of local sports clubs providing a taster in to what they can offer you and your child. So if they are into rugby, football, cricket or mountain biking bring them along and let them explore what an Active North Halifax has to offer while having a heap of fun long the way.  Younger children can try balance bikes on the Bikeability wooden track. For a small fee, older children (and grown ups) can brave the Beechwood climbing wall!

Firm favourites West Yorkshire Fire Service will be there with the fire engine to talk to the little ones and let them have a look in the fire engine.  And there’s a dog show which is always a treat to watch, or even bring your dog and enter one of the categories.

Have a look at a variety of local community stalls including Dads R Us and Mothershare. Phoenix Shed will show you how to make your own bird box to take home and attract the local wildlife to your garden.

Entertainment in our arena includes Threeways Gymnastics, the Magpie Movers and performances by the pupils of Moorside and Dean Field Schools.

FREE entry.

Limited parking available at Trinity Academy Halifax, HX2 9TZ.

Dogs that are not entering the dog show are welcome at the Beechwood Picnic but please keep them on a lead.
