The King Cross Local History Group are leading a walk around King Cross to visit that part of the area which many will remember before the area was cleared of the rows of terraced houses and courtyards around Haugh Shaw Road. The walk will visit one of those courtyards where Laura Annie Willson MBE, the local Suffragette, lived as a child. We will look at how the massive increases in population affected the built environment and remember the community amenities which served that population, as well as some of the older aspects of the area.
There are two walks planned, the first on Sunday 14 July 2019 and another on Sunday 27 October both starting at 11:00am. You will meet outside the library at King Cross and can book a place by emailing Graham Bradshaw at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
