Cleaning up Our Neighbourhood and Community Involvement

Following concerns from residents in recent Ward Forum meetings, on Wednesday 1st May 2019 members of the North East Halifax Safer Cleaner Greener partnership took part in a clean-up of the Lee Mount area. Also involved were several members of the friends of Shroggs Park community group.

The Lee Mount community were informed of the clean-up through flyers that were delivered to 500 properties in the area and local residents certainly took advantage by filling the skip within 1 hour.

Apart from several tonnes of bulky waste that was removed, partners and volunteers carried out a litter pick of the estate and helped to remove 50 bin liners full of general litter.

Well done to everyone who took part!

Littering, bulky waste and fly-tipping is a problem in the Lee Mount area, if you need to have any waste removed or have any information about fly-tipping then please contact the customer first desk on  01422 288002.

Remember also that this is a project that is throughout Calderdale so any concerns in the Lower Valley can be addressed to the same number.

  1. There is a group in Queensbury that has started the “Friends of Queensbury High Street” (please check facebook)which aims to clean up the place where we live,as council resources are less,so local residents have taken the initiative to have a litter pick every Wednesday and on some Saturdays/Sundays too. They have also taken to weeding pathways and made up garden planters to brighten up the High Street.
