Changes to Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs)

Two changes are coming to Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) which will reduce contractual costs and help manage waste disposal while at the same time ensuring that all Household Waste Recycling Centres remain open and continue to operate their existing hours. From Monday 3 December, plasterboard, hardcore and rubble will now only be accepted at Halifax, Brighouse and Todmorden HWRCs, with a charge per bag.

The second change is the introduction of a Resident’s permit on a trial basis, to Brighouse and Elland HWRCs, starting on the Monday 26 November. Every vehicle visiting Brighouse or Elland HWRC will need a resident permit in order to deposit waste or recycling. Permits will be issued free of charge by the site office, on production of photo identification to prove residence in Calderdale.
