Farewell to St. Mary’s Community Shop

May we say a sad farewell to our neighbours at St. Mary’s Community Shop and we wish them well as they close their doors on Tuesday 3 July 2018.

The community shop and drop in served the people of North Halifax and was run by the Church of England parish of Mixenden and Illingworth, based at Holy Nativity Church and provided a regular point of contact for the community.

St. Mary’s Community Shop was set up some 16 years ago by the congregation at St. Mary’s Church in Illingworth as a place where people in the community could drop in and meet and buy affordable goods.

We wish all the volunteers well in the future.

  1. Thank you for all your support over the years. It has been a great way for us to serve the community for the last 16 years. Whilst the shop has closed yesterday, it doesn’t mean that we’re no longer serving the people of north Halifax, it just means we’re looking to what we do in the future.
