Our Communities Award 2018: Contribution to a Safer Cleaner Greener Environment – WINNER ANNOUNCED!

WINNER: Ian Hey

Although retired, Ian Hey is an active volunteer in the Warley Ward and regularly attends West View park where he can spend hours litter picking, reporting issues in the park and generally keeping the park clean and tidy for others to enjoy.

An ever presence at organised park clean ups he also volunteers his time to help out at big events such as the West view Park Family Fun Day.

Ian is a member of the Friends of West View Park community group and remains actively involved in the current and future refurbishment of the Boer War Monument situated in the park grounds. He has attended regular meetings with the local authority and through his efforts and commitment, the monument is to undergo a £20,000 summer face lift.

Also a member of the Royal British Legion, Ian is actively involved in fundraising for the organisation and raised a whopping £3,000.

Ian is regularly involved in improving the environment for the community making him your much deserved winner of the 2018 award for Contribution  to a Safer, Cleaner Greener, Environment.
