Calderdale Heritage Walks: Suffragettes and Slaves

A linear walk with Jill Liddington on Sunday 1 July to visit the homes of Halifax’s own nest of suffragettes.

A 4 hour walk across Savile Park, along Queens Road to the Mechanics Institute where, in 1911, Emmeline Pankhurst urged women to boycott the census.

The details of times and where to meet will be supplied when you book a place.

Bring a snack lunch and drink. Returning to the start by service bus late afternoon.

PRE-BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL

It will not be possible to just turn up on the day.

You can book in person, by phone on 01422 368725 or by post to Visitor Centre, Halifax Central Library, HX1 1QG with full payment and a reply paid envelope.

The charge for this walk is £4.50. Cheques payable to ‘Calderdale MBC’.
