North Halifax Star 2018: Lifetime Achievement Award – WINNER ANNOUNCED!

WINNER: Dominic Furby

Dom Furby has worked tirelessly to help improve the lives of residents within North Halifax during his time working as watch commander for Halifax Fire & Rescue Service.

Although he’s retired, Dom hasn’t stopped and continues to work with organisations and individuals to help improve the area.

During his time as Watch Commander Dom played a big part in establishing Ovenden Phoenix football team and even captained a team of fire fighters in a number of friendlies against the young men.

He’s done a lot for charity over the years, particularly the Fire Fighter Charity with activities such as participating in charity bike rides and the gruelling test that is ‘Tough Mudder.

Those who know Dom would surely agree that they couldn’t wish to meet a more kind and caring individual who would and still will quite happily go out of his way to help those in need.

If you would like to make a donation to the Fire Fighters Charity or to find out more about the work they do visit www.firefighterscharity.org.uk
