Ovenden Ward Forum Moves to Make North Halifax Dementia Friendly

On Wednesday 13 December at the Ovenden Ward Forum, local residents, Ovenden Ward Councillors Anne Collins, Helen Rivron and Bryan Smith, West Yorkshire Police PCSO Joel Hudson & Karen Scanlon from the North Halifax Partnership took part in a session to raise awareness around Dementia.

Chris Wills from the Alzheimer’s Society highlighted the awareness and what it’s like for someone living with Dementia including a lighthearted bingo game to highlight everyday issues that someone might face that lives with dementia the session which was topped off with them each receiving a Dementia Friends Badge and promising to help make North Halifax Dementia friendly.

From 2018 a steering group will be formed and a small budget to support the development in North Halifax to help make North Halifax a Dementia friendly community.
