There will be a Carol Service at All Souls Church, Haley Hill HX3 6DR on Sunday 10 December, 4pm. Said by some to be the best acoustics in Halifax in Sir Gilbert Scott’s finest church.
Wrap up warm as there is no heating and bring a torch as it will be candlelit only! Readings, Carols for choir and congregation followed by mince pies and mulled wine.
This Halifax landmark is one of most magnificent buildings to be designed by architect Sir George Gilbert Scott and paid for by Edward Akroyd, a Halifax manufacturer. Scott thought it his best church but he still lamented it was not grander still.
Completed in 1859, it has a 72-metre-high spire and dazzling stained glass created by Victorian master craftsmen.
