On Saturday 2 December, 7:30pm at Red Brick Auditorium of Square Chapel this ever-popular Christmas concert by Halifax Concert Band is a firm favourite in the calendar.
Returning for its 13th annual Christmas concert at Square Chapel under the baton of conductor Christopher Binns, the band presents a programme of Christmas music and pieces from its recent repertoire. Additional seasonal fun is guaranteed in this highly entertaining concert.
The full-sized community band comprises local musicians, with its mixture of brass, woodwind and percussion instruments, and has established a great reputation for its music making not only in concert, but broadcast on radio and on its own CDs. Several of its performances can also be viewed on YouTube and are also available on iTunes. It is the only adult wind band in the Calderdale area and has a membership of 40 musicians. The band is self-supporting and all the players give their time and services for free.
The band’s reputation is well established in Calderdale, but concerts are performed further afield and have included venues in France and Germany. It has also performed alongside bands of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces including The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines and The Royal Air Force Regimental Band.
Come and join the band for a great evening – Christmas starts here!
