Fancy becoming a Gig Buddy?

Gig Buddies Calderdale is an exciting new initiative which will seek to match people who have a learning disability with volunteers who have similar interests.
The aim of the project is to promote friendship and increase opportunities for people who have a learning disability to become involved in their local community.
The idea of a ‘gig’ is up to you and you and your buddy will meet monthly to choose and plan an event you would like to go to.
It could be music, festival, theatre, cinema, a walk in the park – it is entirely led by our Gig Buddies and Gig Goers.
Gig Buddies was pioneered in 2013 by Brighton based charity ‘Stay Up Late’ and is now running in Scotland and Sydney, Australia.
Gig Buddies Calderdale is based at Square Chapel Arts Centre in Halifax which is at the heart of cultural events – watch this space!
The project works with people with a learning disability aged 16 and upwards and for Gig Buddy volunteer roles, you must be 18 plus.
