(VAC will also be at the Calderdale College Fresher’s Fair on Wednesday 13 September 10:00 – 13:00)
VAC have a number of volunteering opportunities.
Molly and Bill has developed significantly over the summer and the programme of activities in care homes has expanded. Volunteers have been undertaking a variety of roles and activities within the different care settings. There have been many positive stories of residents engaging in activities, such as a lady who is not able to communicate joining in a singing session.
Weekend Care has changed its name to Our Place and moved venue to Heath United Reform Church. They had a launch event this summer and are looking for new volunteers to join the team.
Quality Voice has started a couple of new partnerships working with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and with care providers delivering services for Calderdale Council. The volunteer team have been learning new skills and increasing their experience of assessing quality. The project has received great feedback from partners and is making a significant impact.
VAC has also got involved with the Take Control Programme which is a supported self management course that is delivered across Calderdale. The courses are run for seven weeks for people with long term health conditions. VAC is supporting the volunteers who co-deliver the courses with a health professional and helping with the administration to enable people sign up to the courses.
VAC is always looking for new volunteers to get involved in our different projects. Comprehensive training is provided to volunteers and sessions are arranged regularly to induct new volunteers. We provide ongoing support to all volunteers who take part in our projects.
