MixMatch receives a financial boost from the Safer Communities Fund

Heather Stout, Ovenden & Mixenden Initiative, and Oli Crosland, West Yorkshire Fire Service receiving the cheque for MIXMATCH.

On 30th April the MixMatch Project received a £1,000 grant from the West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s Safer Communities Fund.

MixMatch involves activities that break down the barriers between young people and uniformed services by delivery and mentoring by officers from the police and the fire services.

Figures show that the project has made a significant impact on anti-social behaviour and deliberate fires in local areas .

Every year teams from local high schools and primary schools take part in a challenge event held at the Mixenden Activity Centre.

The project also works with targeted young people in primary schools and youth clubs.
