Lee Mount Junior Wardens clean up Shroggs Park

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAIt’s been 10 years since Lee Mount Primary School worked to create the Somewhere Over the Rainbow project in Shroggs Park, Lee Mount and following interviews there’s now a new Junior Warden’s scheme in place at the school.

The Lee Mount Junior Wardens are proud of where they live and work together to identify environmental and safety problems in order to make our neighbourhood a better place to live.

lee-mount-junior-wardens-30112016-jpg1-jpg2-jpg4-jpg5On Wednesday 30 November the Wardens joined together with Pete Oddy area manager for Calderdale Safer Cleaner Greener Team ,Pc Kim McCloskey & PCSO Trevor Lovelock West Yorkshire Police and Karen Scanlon from the Ovenden Initiative to litter pick in Shroggs Park.

lee-mount-junior-wardens-30112016The Junior Wardens have also worked on a speed initiative on Shroggs Road and Wheatley Lane to check the speeds of passing traffic along with PC McCloskey, PCSO Leeman & PCSO Foster.

The majority of vehicles checked were travelling under or at the required speed limit, however a few drivers were advised regarding the recent changes to the speed limits that came into force in the North Halifax area in October 2016.

Look out for more exciting activities including bird box and feeder making from the new Lee Mount Junior Wardens over the coming months.
